BA/MA Sachbereichs-/Regionalübung: Hydro-social relations and multi-modal anthropology.
Dienstag, 05.12.2023
In this course, we will engage with film, photography, soundscapes, scientific texts and creative writing that explore the human relationship with water. From this multi-modal approach to anthropological study, the course will focus on the ways in which diverse hydro-social interactions emerge. Water defense activism, watershed maintenance and restoration and sensor-tracking documentation of wildlife in riparian areas are conceptualized as a "hydro-social practices of care." The regional emphasis for the course will draw from multi-modal examples developed throughout the Americas and Europe. Students will create one multi-modal output - a short film, a podcast, a series of photographs, a soundscape, or a short collection of poems - that examines a central question developed over the course of the class.
No separate registration is required to attend regular lectures/seminars.
