An Introduction to Islam and Islamic Studies

The format of this class is that of the lecture and is thought to provide beginner students with a space where they can be introduced (by attending a series of talks by a lecturer) to the key texts, beliefs and practices of the religion of Islam. The course also provides a general overview on some major intellectual debates in Islamic Studies and an introduction to hermeneutics as a methodology of inquiry.
